Open source
Open source mex is not the hosted waitlist
Public mex today is local. Canonical memory is Markdown in your repository and moves with Git. Each teammate runs indexes and a Hub on their own machine. The early-access form on this site is the hosted team product (shared infrastructure and governance), not a rename of the CLI.
| Open source | Hosted | |
|---|---|---|
| Where memory lives | files in the repo (.mex/ and related scaffold) | shared deployment (waitlist) |
| How teammates get it | git pull | shared service |
| Hub | local, 127.0.0.1, this checkout | admin surface on the waitlist |
| Account | none | early access |
| What exists now | v0.8.3 on npm and GitHub | request access (see /hosted) |
Use the CLI if you want project memory in Git this week. Use early access if you want mex to operate a shared layer and an admin surface for the team.
FAQ
- Can I use OSS without joining the waitlist?
- Yes.
- Does the waitlist replace Git?
- Hosted is additive governance and infrastructure. It does not replace Git. Details ship with that product.
- Is Hub already cloud-hosted?
- No. Public Hub is loopback only.
- Which should I link people to?
- Engineers: /docs/setup. Team leads asking for a dashboard: homepage early access.
